Overview
The G2 Dana 60 front axle spindle, part number 99-2034-7, is a replacement spindle for Dana 60 front axles from G2 Axle and Gear. G2 offers it as a high strength replacement for a worn or damaged original spindle, so owners can avoid searching salvage yards.
Its application covers 1975-1991 GM and Dodge trucks with a Dana 60 1 Ton axle. It is precision machined from forged steel and uses a 6 bolt mounting pattern.
Key features
- Precision machined from forged steel
- 6 bolt mounting pattern
- Front axle location
- High strength replacement design for worn spindles
Spindle wear and replacement
A front spindle carries the wheel bearings and the steering knuckle load, so wear in the spindle shows up as a loose or noisy wheel. Look for scoring on the bearing journal, rust pitting, or a groove where a seal rides. A spindle that is out of round will shorten bearing life even if the bearings were fresh when fitted.
When the spindle is replaced, the bearings, seals and hub are usually replaced with it, since they run on the new surface. Use a torque wrench and follow your service procedure for bearing preload and nut torque. Check the brake rotor and caliper bracket position after installation to be sure everything sits square. Re-check the wheel bearing setup after the first few drives.
