Overview
The G2 Axle and Gear Dana 44/30 U-joint full circle snap ring, part number 1400-118PP, holds the U-joint caps on an axle shaft for 5-760X series U-joints.
A full circle snap ring wraps all the way around the U-joint cap, giving positive cap retention and helping keep caps from being thrown, unlike factory C-style clips.
Four snap rings are needed to install one U-joint, one for each cap. The ring fits aftermarket axle shafts and GM 10 bolt axles.

Installing the snap rings
The snap ring seats in a groove around the cap, so the groove has to be clean and free of old rust before the ring goes in. Install the ring with the opening positioned away from the load, and seat it fully so the bead sits in the groove all the way around.
Snap rings can be bent or stretched during removal. Inspect them before reuse, and replace any ring that is distorted or has lost its shape. A new cap and a new ring together give the most reliable result when a joint is rebuilt.
Check the caps for play after the first drives, and listen for clicks or vibration from the axle. Any movement at the cap means the seat or ring needs attention before the joint wears further.
