Overview
The Fox Racing Shox 985-24-104 is a rear Fox 2.0 Factory Series external bypass piggyback reservoir shock for the 1999–2017 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty. It is a direct replacement shock for a 0 to 1 inch lift.
A piggyback reservoir is a separate oil reservoir that mounts alongside the shock body and connects to it with a hose. This external reservoir design is the defining feature of the model, and Fox says each application was tested by its engineers for suspension travel on and off the road.

Piggyback reservoir installation
A piggyback reservoir adds oil volume and helps damping stay steadier when the shock runs hot on long grades or soft sand. The hose and reservoir body need clear space from the frame, brake lines, fuel lines and the axle, so plan their route before final tightening. Check that the reservoir can sit upright and that the hose will not rub or stretch through the full suspension range.
Super Duty trucks often carry towing loads, which makes rear damping and bushing condition more important than on a light vehicle. Inspect the hose ends and fittings for seepage at each service, and replace worn bushings and hardware together so the reservoir keeps a stable position. Keep heat sources away from the body and reservoir.

Vehicle fitment
It fits the 1999–2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty and F-350 Super Duty in the Cabela’s, FX4, Harley-Davidson Edition, King Ranch, Lariat, Platinum, XL and XLT trims.
Super Duty models after 2017, the F-450 and the F-150 are not covered by this fitment. Confirm your vehicle’s year, model and trim before ordering.
Installation notes
The external reservoir needs its hose and body routed clear of the frame and nearby parts, so check clearance before final tightening. The stated lift range is 0 to 1 inch, and a higher lift calls for a different shock.
