The 7-pin connector on a trailer is exposed when the trailer is unhitched, and it collects dirt, insects and moisture over time. Corrosion on the contacts can cause lights to dim or fail, and a clogged plug can be hard to clean at the start of a trip. A cover keeps the pins protected between tows.
