Overview
The Fab Fours Truck ViCowl in bare steel, part number VC4100-B, is an upper visor and cowl bracket set for the Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty. Caring for bare steel
Bare steel has no powder coat, so the surface is more exposed to moisture, road salt and trail grit than a coated finish. Good habits make a difference: wash the truck regularly, dry the cowl and visor after rain or washing, and keep an eye on areas where the metal meets the hardware, since those are the spots where rust usually begins. Bare steel also changes appearance over time, so an occasional light coat of wax can help it keep an even look.
If surface rust appears, clean it with a stiff brush or fine abrasive, wipe the area clean and apply a rust-inhibiting primer followed by a paint or protective coating that suits steel. Address small spots early, before they grow under the edges. Checking the bolts for tightness during routine service also helps keep the bracket seated and the finish intact.
