Choosing a replacement blade
Wiper blades wear from sun exposure, ozone and repeated contact with grit on the glass. A worn blade usually shows as streaks, skipping or chatter across the windshield, and the rubber edge may look cracked or torn when the arm is lifted away from the glass. Replacing the blade before streaking becomes a visibility problem is the simplest way to keep clear sight lines in rain.
When choosing a replacement, measure the current blade tip to tip and compare it with the 17 to 19 inch length range. Blades from the same family can use different connectors, so confirm the arm style before buying. Front wiper arms on older Jeeps are sometimes swapped during earlier repairs, so check that the arm and blade still match.
- Measure the old blade tip to tip
- Check the arm connector type
- Replace both sides when wear is even
- Clean the glass edge before fitting
