Overview
The Tuff Country 70501 is a front pitman arm with 4 inches of drop, made for 4 to 6 inch lifts on the 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 and the 2000-2002 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 with power steering.
Tuff Country states its drop pitman arms restore proper steering geometry after a suspension lift, bringing back the turning radius, eliminating bump steer and preserving vital steering components.
Key features
- For 4 to 6 inch lift kits
- 4 inches of drop
- Front position
- Power steering application
- Helps eliminate bump steer
Pre-install steering check
Before fitting a drop arm, check the steering components that the arm connects to. The drag link, tie rod ends and idler arm all carry steering loads, and worn ends can cause looseness that no pitman arm will fix. Lift the front, check each joint for play, and replace anything that moves more than it should.
Drop arms change how the linkage angles under steering, so trucks in this range benefit from a full check of the steering box and the mounting points as well. Tires should turn freely at full lock without rubbing the lift components. Keep a record of the steering setup in case a later alignment needs to match it.
- Drag link and tie rod end play
- Idler arm mount condition
