Overview
The Tuff Country 2 – 4 Inch Lift Kit, part number 14731, is a suspension lift kit for 1988 to 1991 Chevrolet Blazer, Suburban and GMC Jimmy trucks and SUVs. It lifts the vehicle 2 to 4 inches and comes with U-bolts and a brake line extension kit.
Tuff Country has built EZ-Ride suspension lift kits since 1988 and says they are engineered for quality, with simple installation and a great ride as its trademarks. The manufacturer backs the kit with a limited lifetime warranty. The added height gives fender clearance for larger tires.
Key features
- Adds 2 to 4 inches of lift
- Includes U-bolts
- Includes a brake line extension kit
- Covered by a limited lifetime warranty, per the manufacturer
- Part of the Tuff Country EZ-Ride suspension line
Brake lines and alignment after lifting
Raising a truck with a suspension lift stretches the brake lines and changes the angles of the caliper and hose. Before driving, inspect the lines for tension, kinks and contact with the frame or suspension parts. A brake line extension is used to avoid overstretching the line, but the lines still need to be checked and the brakes tested at low speed first.
Changing the height also alters caster, camber and toe, which affects steering and tire wear. Alignment should be checked after the kit is installed and after the first few hundred miles of driving. Larger tires added to a lifted truck can also change how the steering responds, so recheck the alignment if the tires change.
- Inspect brake lines for tension and kinks
- Test brakes at low speed before highway use
- Check alignment after installation
- Recheck alignment after changing tire size
