Lift shock setup
A lift shock is longer and built to handle more travel than a stock shock. When a Jeep is lifted, the shock works at a steeper angle, so the mounts, brackets and bushings are loaded differently and should be checked before the first drive.
Setting up front and rear lift shocks together keeps the suspension balanced. Each end should be measured at the same ride height, and the shocks should be installed with the vehicle at its normal weight so the piston has room to move through its range.
After installation, recheck the bolts after the first few drives, look for contact with brake lines or tires, and confirm that the boots are seated correctly on the shaft.
