Overview
The Power Stop Autospecialty B462 is a set of rear brake shoes for drum brakes on the 1977–1983 Jeep Cherokee (SJ), 1977–1983 Jeep Wagoneer (SJ), 1984–1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer (SJ), 1977–1988 Jeep J10, 1984 Jeep J20, 1994–1999 Dodge Ram 1500, 1977 Chevrolet El Camino and 1977 GMC Sprint.
The shoes are semi-metallic and post-cured for stronger braking and quicker break-in. They are built for installers who need a precise fit on the drum.

- Backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty from Power Stop
Drum brake shoe basics
Drum brakes rely on the shoes pressing evenly against the inside of the drum, so shoe fit matters as much as the friction material. The adjuster should be set so the shoes sit close to the drum without dragging. Worn shoes often leave a grooved drum or a pedal that drops slowly, and both are signs the shoes need attention.
Shoes are normally replaced in pairs on the same axle so braking stays even from side to side. Before fitting new shoes, check the wheel cylinders for leaks and make sure the backing plate is clean and free of old grease. A drum with heavy scoring should be measured or machined before new shoes go on, because an uneven drum wears new shoes quickly.
- Replace shoes on both sides of the axle together
- Check wheel cylinders for fluid around the boots
- Lubricate the adjuster threads lightly
- Test the pedal before driving on public roads
