Brake line replacement tips
Brake lines carry fluid under pressure, so the routing and fittings matter as much as the tubing itself. Before removing the old lines, photograph the routing, clamp positions and bracket locations so the new lines follow the same path. Use a flaring tool rated for the tubing and check each flare for cracks before connecting it to a fitting.
Stainless steel resists rust better than plain steel tubing, which makes it a common choice where road salt and moisture are part of daily driving. It does not prevent wear at fittings, so inspect the joints at every service. Bend lines by hand or with a bender made for brake tubing, and avoid kinks because a kink weakens the wall and restricts flow.
- Replace the brake fluid once the lines are opened
- Bleed the system in the correct order
- Test the pedal before driving normally
