Key features
- 6061-T6 billet aluminum construction
- Patent pending tire tread design
- Supplied as a knob with assembly
- Custom billet look for the Jeep interior
Fitting a billet shifter knob
A shifter knob is a small part, but it has daily contact, so fit and finish matter. Before installing, remove the existing knob and check that the shifter shaft threads are clean and undamaged. A knob that sits loosely can rotate while driving and make shifting less predictable.
Tighten the knob by hand and avoid overtightening, since aluminum threads can gall or strip under force. Keep the knob free of grit and oils, and clean it with mild soap and water rather than harsh solvents, which can dull a billet finish over time. Recheck the knob snugness after the first few drives.
Billet aluminum shows fingerprints and scratches more than painted plastic, so a soft cloth helps keep it looking fresh. A custom knob changes how the shifter feels in hand, so take a few shifts before relying on it off road.
- Remove the old knob and check the threads
- Hand-tighten only
- Clean with mild soap and water
