Rear bracket wear and fit
A rear spring shackle bracket anchors one end of the leaf spring to the frame and lets the spring change length as the axle moves. Over time the mounting holes can elongate and the bushing can wear, which often shows up as rattles over bumps or a loose feel at the rear of the vehicle. Inspect the bracket for cracks, bent metal and worn pins whenever the rear suspension is serviced.
Replacement brackets are usually installed with new bushings and fresh hardware, since reusing worn bolts can leave the joint loose. Before fitting, compare the bracket shape and hole locations with the old part and make sure the frame side matches your vehicle. Rust around the frame mounts is another reason to inspect closely.
After installation, tighten fasteners to the specification for your model and recheck them after the first few drives.
