A passenger side lock rod retainer works like its driver side partner, guiding the rod so it moves freely between the lock cylinder and the latch. Before removing anything, operate the lock from inside the vehicle and watch for sluggish travel or a rod that pulls out of line. Those symptoms point to the retainer, the rod or the latch, and each needs a look before you order.
Work slowly around the door trim, because clips break easily when they are cold or brittle. Keep track of every fastener and bag them by location. Once the new retainer is in, make sure the weather seal sits flat so water does not enter the door cavity.

This retainer is for the passenger side only, so it is not the right part for the driver side door. Confirm fit for your vehicle’s year, model and trim before ordering.
Installation notes
A door lock rod retainer sits inside the door, so the door panel or other trim may need to be removed. Follow the vehicle’s service manual, and take care not to damage trim clips, wiring or the weather seal. Test the door lock operation, from both inside and outside the vehicle, before relying on it. A qualified shop can handle the job if you would rather not work inside the door yourself.
