Description

Overview

Lucas Oil Safeguard Ethanol Fuel Conditioner with Stabilizers, part number 10670, is a fuel conditioner and stabilizer made for ethanol-based fuels. It was developed to address the issues that come with using ethanol, and the 5.25 oz. bottle is intended for automobile and marine engines.

The conditioner works with E-10, E-15, E-85, pure ethanol and any mixture in between, including gasoline. It is completely soluble in all ethanol fuels and will not harm filters. Its additives help prevent rust and corrosion caused by ethanol fuels. It is not recommended for diesel applications.

Key features

  • Cleans injectors, valve seats, combustion chambers and other fuel components
  • Prevents varnish and gum formation in ethanol and gasoline
  • Combats deposits in fuel systems
  • Additives help prevent rust and corrosion from ethanol fuel
  • Works with E-10, E-15, E-85, pure ethanol and gasoline mixtures

Fuel stabilizer use

A fuel stabilizer slows the breakdown of gasoline and ethanol blends while a vehicle sits. Oxidation and varnish form in fuel left in the tank, carburetor or fuel rail, and they can clog small passages later. Adding a stabilizer before storage gives the fuel a better chance of staying usable.

Stabilizers work best when the tank has enough fuel in it and the fuel is fresh going in. Before storing a marine or automobile engine, run it briefly so the treated fuel reaches the injectors, and keep the tank as full as practical to limit condensation.

  • Add the stabilizer before storage, not after
  • Run the engine briefly so treated fuel reaches the system
  • Keep the tank full to reduce moisture
  • Use fresh fuel when returning a stored vehicle to service
  • Inspect the filter if the engine runs poorly after storage
