Crank handle wear and fit
On the CJ and YJ, the crank handle is the manual link between the driver and the window glass, so it sees daily use and wears at the splines and spring clip. A handle that spins without moving the window usually means the splines have slipped, while a handle that feels gritty points to the regulator mechanism. Because the handle sits on the regulator shaft, checking the shaft for wear at the same time prevents a new handle from failing early.
Door trim and hardware can differ between years, so confirm the door type and the year before ordering. When the door panel is off, clean the regulator track and apply a light grease to the moving parts. Replace the clip if it is bent, since a loose clip is a common reason a handle comes off unexpectedly on rough trails.
