Key features

  • Black finish
  • Comes with clip
  • Made for full steel doors

Window crank basics

A window crank handle turns a gear that raises and lowers the glass in manually operated doors. Because the handle is used many times each day, its grip, spline and retaining clip see steady wear. A loose handle can slip on the shaft, and a worn clip can let it fall off during use.

When replacing a crank, check the splined shaft on the regulator for wear or burrs, since these can prevent the new handle from seating firmly. Also confirm the door panel is still secure, because a loose panel can make the window feel stiff even with a good handle.

Keep the window track clean and lightly lubricated so the crank does not have to work harder. Hand the old handle a quick check for cracks in the plastic before reuse, and replace any handle that spins freely.

  • Check the regulator shaft for burrs
  • Confirm the clip holds firmly
  • Keep the window track lubricated

Questions & Answers

Does this crank handle come with a clip?

Yes. The Crown Automotive FW80PX9 comes with a clip. It is black and made for vehicles with full steel doors.

Will this handle fit a Dodge Ram 2500?

Only the van versions. The list shows the 1999–2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Van Base, and other Ram 2500 models are not on it. Check your model before ordering.

Does this crank handle fit the Wrangler TJ and LJ?

Yes. It fits the 1997–2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ and the 2004–2006 Jeep Wrangler LJ, along with the 2007–2011 Wrangler JK.

Why does a window crank handle feel loose or spin freely?

Usually the spline or retaining clip has worn. Look for rounded teeth on the shaft or a clip that no longer grips. Replacing the handle and clip together restores a firm hold on the regulator shaft.
