Key features
- Designed for the Dana 300 transfer case
- Inner (rear) bearing cup position
- Direct fit replacement part
Fitting the bearing cup
Inner bearing cups are press fit into the transfer case housing, so the new cup must sit square in its bore. Before pressing, clean the bore thoroughly and check it for scoring or burrs that could cause the cup to sit crooked. A cup that is cocked will load the bearing unevenly and shorten its life.
Because the cup and its bearing work as a pair, inspect the rollers and race while the case is open. Replacing a worn bearing alongside a new cup is usually sensible, since a tired bearing can wear a fresh cup quickly. Keep the old shims and note their positions so gear mesh and preload can be set as they were.
- Clean and inspect the bore before pressing
- Replace worn bearings at the same time
- Record shim positions before removal
