Overview
The Bestop HighRock 4×4 modular tubular grille guard, part number 44944-01, is a black powder-coated steel grille guard for the 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler (JK), in two-door and four-door models. It bolts onto the modular HighRock 4×4 front bumper and adds protection in front of the grille and winch.
Bestop builds the guard from 1/8 inch thick mandrel-bent tubular steel with a forward-leaning shape. The finish starts with an electrostatically applied E-coat base layer and a matte-black powder-coat top coat, which Bestop says gives resistance to corrosion plus extra protection against nicks, scrapes and scratches.

Protecting the front end
A grille guard sits in front of the radiator and headlights, so its job is to absorb brush, rock and light impacts. Its forward-leaning shape can help deflect obstacles away from the grille. Mounting lights to the welded tabs places them for trail visibility, but it also adds weight at the front, so keep the mounts tight.
Check hood and radiator clearance after the guard is installed, and make sure nothing touches the hood latch or grille when the hood closes. Winch and D-ring mounts are separate, so plan any winch use on the bumper before buying accessories. Touch up powder coat chips quickly to keep bare steel from rusting.
