Overview
The TeraFlex Epic front bumper with hoop kit, part number 4653230, is a mid-width steel bumper designed for the 2007-2016 Jeep Wrangler JK to offer rock protection and match the JK’s body styling. It has an integrated winch mount with recessed mounting and a 1.75 inch mandrel bent tube guard.
The recessed mounting lets taller winches take up less grille space and improves radiator airflow. The bumper fits all major winch models with a standard offset bolt pattern, including the larger Warn Powerplant. Centered drum winches such as the Warn Zeon need a different bumper. Wranglers from 2012 onward need the JK Vacuum Pump Relocation Bracket Kit, part 4403100.

Keeping cooling airflow clear
Front-end cooling depends on how much air reaches the radiator. A bumper set forward of the grille, or a winch that sits high in the opening, can restrict that airflow and raise engine temperatures on slow climbs. Check the winch body against the radiator and fan shroud before final installation, and keep the grille opening as clear as the setup allows.
A steel bumper with a tube guard adds weight to the front of the vehicle, which changes steering effort and braking distance. Heavier front-end parts are often paired with upgraded shocks, a stronger track bar and properly rated front tires. Heavy-duty steering components and a check of the front axle mounts are worth reviewing when the bumper and winch are fitted together.
