Overview
The Fox Racing Shox 2.5 Factory Series coilover reservoir shock set 880-02-947 is a pair of front shocks for 2WD and 4WD applications, sold with springs and hardware. It is built around an external reservoir that sits apart from the shock body.
Fox says its engineers tested each application to maximize suspension travel and performance on and off road. No vehicle is named for this set, so confirm the front application for your vehicle before choosing it.
Key features
- External reservoir design
- Includes springs and hardware
- Sold as a pair
- Front application for 2WD and 4WD
- Gas charged shocks
Coilover springs and ride height
Coilover shocks combine the damper and spring in one assembly, so the spring rate and preload shape how the front end sits and handles. Changing springs changes ride height, which in turn affects steering geometry, tire clearance and how the bump stops engage. Setting ride height before the alignment keeps the front end predictable.
Reservoir shocks keep the gas chamber away from the body and can be easier to route where space is tight, but the hose needs clearance from tires and moving parts. Inspect the reservoir mount, the spring seats and the shock body after the first drives, looking for oil, gas leaks or springs that have shifted.
- Set ride height before aligning the front end
- Check tire clearance at full steering lock
- Inspect bump stops after fitting new springs

Vehicle fitment
No vehicle is named for this set. It is built for front positions on 2WD and 4WD applications.
Confirm the front application for your vehicle’s year, make, model and trim before buying the set.
Installation notes
Because the set includes coilover springs, check ride height and clearance after fitting, and have the alignment checked once the front end is set up.
What’s included
A pair of shocks with springs and hardware. Check whether vehicle-specific brackets are needed for your application before starting.
