Passenger side fitting tips
A passenger side support is mounted on the opposite side from the driver side, so the strut angle and bracket position are mirrored. Before removing the old support, hold the hatch up so it cannot drop onto the seal or the rear glass.
Compare the new support’s end fittings with the old one, and check the ball studs for play. A single worn support is common and can be replaced alone when the other is in good shape, though replacing both keeps the hatch balanced. After installation, open and close the hatch several times to check for binding, and confirm it stops in the same position at full open. Sluggish movement usually points to a worn bushing or a bent bracket.
