Overview
The Crown Automotive 52000504 is a black rubber bushing for the shackle end of a leaf spring. It fits 1984–2001 Jeep Cherokee (XJ) models.
The rubber sits between inner and outer metal sleeves, and the bushing is non-greaseable. It is used at the shackle end or rear of the spring.

Shackle end wear and fit
The shackle end takes the spring’s length change as the axle moves, so the bushing is in constant motion. Over time the rubber wears, the bushing loosens in the shackle, and the spring can rattle or make a knocking sound under acceleration and braking. Looseness at the shackle is often mistaken for a worn spring.
Shackle bolts should be torqued once the vehicle is back on its wheels, so the rubber is not twisted during installation. Support the axle securely, and inspect the shackle plates and bolts for elongation while the bushing is out. Replacing both sides at the same time keeps the spring balanced.

It does not fit Jeep Wrangler or Liberty models.

Installation notes
Shackle end bushings are usually replaced with the shackle bolt removed, which may call for a press or puller to get the old bushing out. Support the vehicle securely before loosening the hardware.
