Overview
The RockJock 4×4 CE-9114-28 is a forged steel Johnny Joint rod end with a 1 1/4 inch -12 right hand threaded shank. It comes fully assembled with standard Johnny Joint internals, and the title gives its size as 2 1/2 inch.
This model replaces the CE-9114-26. Its thru bolt hole is enlarged by .015 to improve 5/8 inch bolt fitment.

Greasing and thru bolt sizing
A Johnny Joint works by pivoting a ball inside a socket, so the thru bolt holds the joint in place while the ball moves. Grease reaches the ball through the external zerk fitting, and it keeps the surfaces from galling under load. Grease the joint before a trip and after washing the vehicle, since water can wash out the lubricant.
Choosing the thru bolt is a matter of fit as much as strength. A bolt that is too tight in the hole can bind the ball, while a loose one allows play. Inspect the hole and bolt for wear each time you service the linkage. Replace the joint if the ball shows pitting or the bolt hole has elongated, because that wear changes the link geometry.
