Overview
The Poison Spyder Hood Louver, part number 19-53-010P1, is a black aluminum hood louver for the 2018 to 2022 Jeep Wrangler JL and the 2020 to 2022 Jeep Gladiator. The louver helps keep the engine cool by letting hot air escape from the engine compartment and drawing cooler air through the radiator.
Headers, slow speeds, flex fans and a cramped engine compartment can all add heat and reduce airflow. The louver also helps reduce hood wobble at speed.
The aluminum makes the louver lightweight and corrosion resistant, and it is CNC laser-cut and die-stamped. Installation is straightforward with the full-size template, which includes instructions for cutting the airflow holes.

Choosing a hood louver setup
A hood louver works with the cooling system rather than replacing any part of it. Hot air that builds up under the hood can slow the cooling fan’s job and reduce airflow across the radiator, so a louver that vents that heat can help on slow trail climbs and in tight engine bays. The effect depends on the rest of the cooling setup, including fan type, airflow through the grille and any aftermarket intake or exhaust work.
Before cutting, mark the hood carefully and double-check the template against the hood’s underside to make sure there is clearance for hoses, wiring and latch hardware. Mounting a louver alongside a heavier-duty radiator or upgraded fans is a common pairing, so think about the whole airflow path. Smooth the cut edges and seal them before paint or reassembly.
