Description

Overview

The Omix-ADA 16530.15 is a Dana 44 rear axle shaft with a 30-spline end, made for axles with Trac-Lok and with ABS and rear disc brakes. It fits the 2004–2006 Jeep Wrangler LJ Unlimited and Unlimited Rubicon, and the 2002–2006 Wrangler TJ.

Confirm the side against your axle before installing. The shaft is designed for Trac-Lok axles with ABS and rear disc brakes.

Key features

  • Dana 44 rear axle shaft
  • 30-spline shaft end
  • Designed for axles with Trac-Lok
  • Designed for ABS and rear disc brakes
  • Omix-ADA replacement part with OE-style design

Trac-Lok and ABS rear axles

A Trac-Lok differential sends power to both rear wheels more evenly than an open differential, so the shafts carry a steady share of load on both sides. ABS and rear disc brakes add a sensor ring at the axle end, which needs to stay clean and undamaged for the ABS system to read wheel speed correctly. When these parts are fitted together, the shaft and the rest of the rear axle work as one system.

Before fitting a new shaft, check the ABS sensor and tone ring for damage, and clean any metal debris from the axle end. Inspect the rear brake pads, rotors and hoses while the wheel is off, since the job already opens the rear brake area. A shaft with damaged splines or a bent flange should be replaced rather than reused.

  • Clean the ABS sensor and tone ring before fitting
  • Check Trac-Lok clutch wear during the rear axle job
  • Inspect rear brake pads, rotors and hoses
  • Replace a shaft with damaged splines or a bent flange

Questions & Answers

Will the Omix-ADA 16530.15 fit a 2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited?

Yes. It fits 2004–2006 Wrangler LJ Unlimited and Unlimited Rubicon models, and 2005 falls in that range. Confirm the Dana 44 rear and side before installing.

Is this shaft for the driver side or passenger side?

The title says driver side, and the detail table says passenger side. Check which side you need against your axle before installing.

Does this shaft work with ABS and rear disc brakes?

It is made for axles with ABS and rear disc brakes, along with a Trac-Lok differential. Confirm your rear axle setup matches before installing.

Will it fit a 2003 Wrangler TJ?

Yes. It fits 2002–2006 Wrangler TJ models with a Dana 44 rear, and 2003 falls in that range. The LJ years are 2004–2006.

Do I need to replace the rear axle seal when changing a shaft?

It is a good time to inspect it. A seal that leaks gear oil at the axle end can contaminate the new shaft's bearing area, so replacing it during the same job helps avoid a repeat repair. Check the oil level afterward.
