Description

Overview

The Bestop Supertop two-piece doors in Spice Denim, part number BST51789-37, are front-pair soft doors for the Jeep Wrangler LJ and TJ.

They fit factory soft tops, Supertop 51609 and Sunrider 51699 applications, and work with Supertop #174, Sunrider #174 and Halftop. Owners of 2001-and-newer TJ models should not use them, since those tops have different factory soft top fabric and the doors will not match.

Key features

  • Passenger and driver side upper and lower sections
  • Adjustable lower door pins and door collars for a snug fit
  • Velcro to fasten the upper and lower doors together
  • Double-bulb weather stripping for a good seal
  • Exterior fabric color matches Bestop and factory soft tops

Keeping soft doors sealed

Soft doors do most of their work at the seal. Where the upper and lower sections meet, and along the edge that closes against the frame, weather stripping keeps wind, rain and road spray out. Check the seal before a trip and look for flattened areas, cracks or gaps where the stripping has pulled away from the door. Dirt trapped in the closure can keep a seal from compressing, so brushing out the channels helps.

Velcro closures wear with use. Hook-and-loop strips lose grip after repeated fastening, especially when grit works into them, and a loose strip lets the door flap at speed. If a strip no longer holds, replacing it is usually simpler than rebuilding the closure. Set the adjustable lower pins and collars so the door sits square before fastening the closures, and recheck them after the first few drives.

Questions & Answers

Will these Spice Denim doors fit a 2005 Jeep Wrangler LJ?

Yes. They fit the 2004–2006 Jeep Wrangler LJ, so a 2005 model is covered. The doors attach to factory soft tops, Supertop 51609 and Sunrider 51699 applications.

Do they work on a 2003 Wrangler TJ?

They fit the 1997–2006 Wrangler TJ, but 2001-and-newer TJ models use different factory soft top fabric and will not match these doors. Confirm the model year before ordering.

What fabric color is this?

The color is Spice, part BST51789-37. The exterior fabric matches Bestop and factory soft tops, and the doors use Velcro closures and double-bulb weather stripping.

How do I keep the door seals in good shape?

Brush dirt out of the closure channels, check the double-bulb weather stripping for flattening or gaps, and recheck the lower pin and collar settings after the first few drives. Replace hook-and-loop strips once they no longer hold firmly.
