UTV cage clamps and mounts attach accessories to roll cage tubing without welding. This category is mostly modular strap clamps and all-purpose mounts from Axia Alloys, plus items from Assault Industries, for tube sizes from about 1 inch up to 1.75 inches. Use them for lights, whips, radios, mirrors and phones, then compare the products below.

What cage clamps do

A UTV roll cage offers many places to attach gear, but drilling or welding the tubes can weaken them or damage the finish. Clamp-style mounts wrap around the tube and tighten with a strap or bolts, giving a stable base for accessories without modifying the structure. Modular systems let you bolt different heads and arms to the same clamp, so you can change setups as your needs change.

Matching the tube size

Clamp size is the most important detail. Measure the outside diameter of your cage tube, then choose a clamp made for that diameter. Common sizes range from 1.125 inch up to 1.75 inch, and many cages use 1.625 or 1.75 inch tubing. A clamp that is too large will slip, and one that is too small will not close. Some all-purpose mounts cover a range, such as 5/8 inch to 1 3/8 inch, and suit smaller bars or accessory tubing.

Features to compare

  • Material and finish: Billet aluminum is common, usually in clear anodized or black. Anodizing resists corrosion and wear.
  • Strap versus split clamp: A strap design wraps the tube, while a split clamp closes around it with bolts.
  • Accessory interface: Check the bolt pattern, ball mount or modular head that the clamp accepts.
  • Load rating: Heavier items such as light bars, spare tires or fire extinguishers need clamps rated for the weight.

Installation tips

Clean the tube and remove dirt and paint chips so the clamp bites evenly. Many designs include rubber or a protective pad to prevent slipping and scratches. Tighten fasteners evenly to the specified torque, and use thread locker where recommended, because off-road vibration loosens hardware. Never use clamps to hold anything that would be a safety item in a rollover, such as seat belt anchors, unless the manufacturer states that it is designed for that use. Re-check the tightness after your first ride and periodically after.

Think about the layout before you tighten anything. Place heavy accessories close to a cage junction where the tube is stiffest, and keep wires clear of hot parts and moving suspension. Test-fit the accessory with the clamp loose, check for clearance with helmets and passengers, then tighten fully once positioned.

Materials, sizes and common mistakes

Anodized billet aluminum resists corrosion, but the hard coating can chip if you overtighten, which exposes bare metal. Black finishes hide scratches and glare, while clear finishes show wear more readily. Check that the clamp edges are smooth, because sharp edges can cut into powder coat on a cage.

  • Do not mix metric and inch fasteners without checking thread type.
  • Do not tighten a strap clamp past the stated torque, as the strap can deform.
  • Do not mount accessories where they could strike an occupant in a rollover.

Measure tube diameter at several points, since powder coat adds thickness and tubing can vary slightly in size. Many clamps include shims or liners for tubes that are slightly smaller than the clamp's nominal size. Remember that cage manufacturers may specify where clamps are permitted, so consult the cage instructions if in doubt.

UTV Cage Clamps and Mounts FAQ

How do I measure my roll cage tube size?

Measure the outside diameter of the tube with calipers or a tape wrapped around the tube and divided by 3.14. Choose a clamp made for that diameter, as tube sizes of 1.625 and 1.75 inches are common.

Can cage clamps slip on the tube?

They can if the size is wrong, the tube is dirty or the fasteners are loose. Choose the correct diameter, clean the tube, tighten to specification and check the clamp after a few rides.

Will clamping accessories to my cage weaken it?

Clamps do not require drilling or welding, so they are gentler on the tubing than modifications. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and avoid overloading, and do not clamp safety-critical equipment unless it is designed for it.

What does modular mean for a clamp system?

It means the clamp base accepts several interchangeable heads or arms from the same product family. You can reconfigure the setup for lights, whips or other accessories without replacing the base.
