Choosing a spacer height
An air bag spacer fills the gap a lift creates, so the bag can sit in its normal position and keep working through its travel. The spacer height has to match the lift already installed, because a spacer that is too short leaves the bag stretched at full extension, while one that is too tall can cause the bag to bind against the frame or axle at full compression.
Before fitting, check the bags for cracks, bulges and slow leaks, and measure the clearance at full compression. After installation, recheck the fasteners after the first few drives and inspect the bags again at the next service interval. Bags that have aged often show splits in the rubber, and replacing them at the same time as the spacer is a common choice.
