Description

Overview

The Power Stop Z36-370 front brake pads are Z36 Truck and Tow disc brake pads for 1988–2000 Chevrolet and GMC C2500, C3500, K2500 and K3500 trucks, Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon and Dodge Ram 2500.

These pads are built for towing and hauling, where sustained braking builds the heat that leads to brake fade. The friction material has a coefficient of friction 17 percent higher than OE pads.

Key features

  • Carbon and ceramic friction formula
  • Thermal scorched finish
  • Chamfered and slotted like the OE pads
  • Powdercoated backing plate
  • Noise insulating shims
  • Hi-temp lubricant included
  • Direct fit with the stock caliper, front position

Pad and rotor pairing

Pads for heavy trucks work with the rotor surface, so the rotor condition matters as much as the friction formula. A worn or scored rotor can prevent a new pad from seating evenly, causing vibration and noise. Measure the rotor thickness and check for runout before fitting, and resurface or replace it if it falls outside the service limit.

Towing and hauling place long, heavy braking loads on the front brakes. Pads with a thermally scorched finish are designed to handle that heat, but they still need to be bedded in properly. Keep the caliper slide pins lubricated and the hardware clean so the pad moves evenly across the rotor during each stop.

  • Measure rotor thickness before fitting
  • Check for runout and scoring
  • Keep slide pins clean and lubricated

Half-ton C1500 and K1500 pickups and later model years are not on this list. Confirm your vehicle’s year, model and trim before ordering.

Installation notes

Check the rotors and calipers for wear or damage while the old pads are off, since worn parts shorten pad life.

Questions & Answers

Which vehicles does the Power Stop Z36-370 fit?

The Z36-370 front pads fit 1988–2000 Chevrolet and GMC C2500, C3500, K2500 and K3500 trucks, Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon and Dodge Ram 2500. Confirm your year and model fall within those ranges before ordering.

Is the Z36-370 a front or rear brake pad?

Front. The Z36-370 is a front-position pad made to work with the stock caliper, and it is a direct-fit upgrade over stock pads.

Is the Z36-370 an upgrade over stock pads?

Yes. It is an upgrade-type pad that fits the stock caliper. Its coefficient of friction is 17 percent higher than OE pads.

When should towing pads be bedded in?

Bed in new pads with a series of moderate stops from a steady speed, letting the brakes cool between runs. Proper bedding transfers an even layer of friction material to the rotor, which helps prevent pulsation and noise. Avoid hard stops until the pads are fully seated.
