Overview
The Power Stop Z23-1405 is a front Z23 Evolution Sport brake pad set for the 2012–2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK), the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and the 2018 Dodge Durango.
Power Stop builds the Z23 Evolution Sport line around a carbon fiber and ceramic friction formula that the company says resists fade at much higher temperatures than OEM pads. This one is a front pad.

Pads for heavier SUVs
Full-size SUVs carry more weight and generate more heat under braking than smaller vehicles, so front pad compound matters more on these models. A carbon fiber and ceramic formula is built to hold friction when temperatures climb, which helps during steep grades, heavy loads or repeated stops with a trailer. Brake performance also depends on the rotor under the pad, so inspect rotor surfaces and thickness at the same time as the pads.
Many owners replace pads and rotors together, since a worn rotor can shorten the life of a new pad or cause vibration in the pedal. Tighten the caliper bracket and wheel bolts to the vehicle’s specification, then recheck them after the first short drives. Pay attention to pedal feel during those early trips, because a soft or pulsing pedal often traces back to the rotor or a caliper that is not sliding freely.
