Description

Overview

The Poison Spyder B-Pillar Armor, bare aluminum, part number 18-70-010, is a 3/16 inch aluminum cover for the B-pillar of the 4-door Jeep JK. It continues the protection of JK Body Armor up the B-pillar, and it is shaped to sit snugly next to the JK 4-door body armor or Brawler Rockers. The fitment is written for the Jeep JK, 4-door models.

The B-pillar can be exposed to tree branches, brush and canyon walls on the trail. This cover adds one more layer over that area. It is a measure of protection rather than a fully armored pillar, and it will not make the Jeep’s B-pillars bomb-proof.

Key features

  • CNC laser cut from 3/16 inch aluminum
  • Shaped to fit snugly with JK 4-door body armor or Brawler Rockers
  • Covers the B-pillar of the 4-door JK
  • Countersunk stainless steel flat-head bolts
  • Nut-serts for the installation
  • Ships as bare aluminum

Trail exposure and upkeep

Rocker and pillar armor works by taking the first hit from branches, rock and brush so the vehicle body underneath does not get scraped. Once the armor is in place, the seams where it meets the body and the rockers are the places to check. Mounting holes can loosen over time, and a bolt that backs out can let the cover shift on rough terrain.

Bare aluminum shows scratches sooner than painted metal. Some owners clean the surface and apply a suitable paint or powder coat, and this should be done before the cover is bolted on so the fasteners and nut-serts stay clean. After a hard trip, look over the cover for cracks around the cut edges and any bends in the metal, and retighten fasteners as needed.

  • Check bolt tightness after the first few trail outings
  • Inspect the cover edges for cracks or bends
  • Look for gaps between the cover and the adjacent armor

Questions & Answers

Is the B-Pillar Armor 18-70-010 for a 4-door JK?

Yes. It is written for the 4-door Jeep JK, which is the Wrangler (JK) from 2007 to 2018. Confirm your Jeep is a 4-door JK before ordering.

Does it fit with JK Body Armor?

Yes. The cover is shaped to mount snugly next to the JK 4-door Body Armor or the Brawler Rockers, which continues the protection up the B-pillar.

Is the B-pillar fully protected?

No. The cover provides a measure of protection, but it will not make the Jeep's B-pillars bomb-proof against trees, brush and canyon walls.

Does it need drilling?

Yes. Cutting or drilling is required for the installation. The bolts are countersunk and the nut-serts are included, so the cover sits flush once fitted.

How often should I check the fasteners on a B-pillar cover?

Check them after the first few trail trips and then at regular intervals. Vibration and impacts can loosen bolts over time. Retighten any fastener that has backed out, and replace nut-serts that strip or spin in the hole.
