Key features
- 1310 series CV socket yoke assembly
- Front driveshaft at the transfer case
- 3.218 bolt circle diameter
- Greasable
Before you install
A CV socket yoke sits at the end of the front driveshaft where it meets the transfer case. It transmits torque through a joint that lets the shaft change angle as the front axle moves over uneven ground. Because the yoke takes constant load and angle changes, its condition affects driveline vibration and the seals and bearings around it. Before installing, clean the yoke bore and mating surfaces, and confirm the bolt pattern matches the transfer case output you have.
Greasing is a routine task. Work grease into the fitting until fresh grease shows at the seal, which pushes out old contamination. Inspect the yoke for play, torn boots or rough rotation, and look for grease leaks on the transfer case side. Replacing a yoke often means checking the front driveshaft U-joints and the transfer case seal at the same time, since those parts wear on a similar schedule.
A quick check after the first few drives helps catch problems early. Listen for new vibration under load, feel for heat at the joint, and recheck the fasteners once the driveline has settled. Keeping the yoke greased and sealed is one of the simplest ways to extend the life of the front driveline.
