Overview
The Bilstein 5100 Series shock absorber, part 33-185552, is a rear shock for lifted trucks, Jeeps and prerunners, with a 46mm smooth body and a zinc plated finish. Bilstein lists it for a 4 in. lift and for the 1961-1983 Toyota Land Cruiser in Base trim, and says it is designed for specific manufacturer lift kits that keep the stock OEM mounting configuration.
The 5100 Series uses traditional Bilstein monotube gas pressure construction, which Bilstein says delivers consistent fade-free performance and long life. Its single tube design has self-adjusting deflecting disc valving and a high-flow piston that Bilstein says reduces harshness on rough ground.

Vehicle fitment
Bilstein lists this shock for the 1961-1983 Toyota Land Cruiser in Base trim. The fitment is a direct fit for the stock mounting configuration on that vehicle.
Other Toyota models and Land Cruiser years outside 1961-1983 are not covered here. Confirm your vehicle’s year, model and trim before ordering.
Installation notes
Confirm the lift kit on your truck matches the shock’s mounting before you install, since Bilstein designs this model around specific manufacturer kits. Both eye mounts are 16mm and the shaft is 14mm, so compare these with your existing hardware before you start.
What’s included
A boot is included with the shock absorber. This is a single rear shock with no reservoir.
