Summer heat and soft top ventilation
A soft-top Jeep traps heat quickly because the canvas and vinyl hold solar energy against the cabin. Tinted windows reduce the greenhouse effect inside the vehicle, which helps when parking in direct sun. They do not replace airflow, so open the doors briefly before driving off and use the vents once the cabin cools a little.
Replacing worn windows matters for both heat and visibility. Clouded or cracked vinyl passes less light and can make it harder to see traffic. Window surrounds also protect the top’s seams from water, so a damaged surround should be addressed before it lets moisture into the cabin. When fitting new windows, keep the zipper teeth clean and move slowly to avoid tearing the surround.
