The casting is full cast and one piece, made from cast iron. Curved vanes move air through the rotor to aid cooling. The rotor is dynamically balanced for vibration-free running. Plain versus slotted faces
A plain friction face is the simplest rotor surface. It has no slots or drilled holes to vent gas or wipe pad debris, so the pad surface stays intact and the rotor stays solid. Many daily drivers choose plain faces because they place less stress on the pads during steady street use.
Off-road or hard-use setups often run slotted or drilled faces for better debris clearance, while a plain surface suits calm, consistent driving. Choose the face type based on how the vehicle is used, but keep the bolt pattern, center bore and thickness the same regardless of surface. Light surface rust on a new cast iron rotor is normal and usually clears after a few stops. Deep grooves or a ridge at the outer edge mean the rotor should be measured or replaced.
