Overview
The Alloy USA Dana 44 30 spline chromoly replacement axle shaft, part 21204C, is one rear shaft for the 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler (JK). It can be used on the driver or passenger side. It fits 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler (JK) models. Confirm your year, model and trim before ordering.
Alloy USA makes the shaft from 1541H or 4140 steel, heat treated and induction hardened. It is designed for twice the tensile strength of stock and up to 35% more strength. Each order is one shaft only.
Key features
- Single rear shaft for driver or passenger side
- 30 splines
- Chromoly shaft from 1541H or 4140 steel
- Heat treated and induction hardened
- Up to 35% stronger than stock
Choosing a shaft for each side
Rear axle shafts on a Wrangler JK are sold one side at a time, so the first step is to confirm which side each shaft belongs on. Mark the old shafts as you remove them, and note whether each one came from the driver or passenger side. A shaft installed on the wrong side can seat badly against the differential and the hub. Keep the bolts and retaining hardware in order as well.
Chromoly shafts are stronger than many stock units, but strength does not fix worn hubs or a damaged differential. Check the axle bearings, the seal surfaces and the splines on the differential side gears before reassembly. Replacing the seal and bearing with the shaft keeps the job to one teardown, which is easier on a trail rig and on a driveway project alike.
