Overview
The Tuff Country 97031 is a non-tapered axle lift blocks kit for the rear of the 2006–2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500. The kit is an economical way to raise the rear end, and the blocks are designed to replace the factory block.
The kit includes the U-bolts and is a rear position part. It fits the 2006–2018 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 in the trims covered, along with the 2007 Silverado 1500 Classic and 2007 Sierra 1500 Classic models.
Key features
- Non-tapered lift blocks

Lift blocks and ride height
Axle lift blocks raise the rear of the truck by placing a block between the axle and the leaf spring, so the axle sits higher in the spring pack. Because the block changes the geometry at the spring, the U-bolts must be the correct length to clamp it. Non-tapered blocks keep the same thickness across their face, which suits some mounting positions and not others.
Raising the rear changes driveline angles, brake hose length and the stance over the rear wheels, so these areas should be checked after installation. Shock length and the rear bump stops can also need attention when the ride height changes. Re-torque the U-bolts after the first few drives, since the new mounting settles under load.
- Check driveline angles after lifting the rear
- Inspect brake lines and hoses for stretch
- Recheck U-bolt torque after the first drives
- Review shock length against the new height
