Overview
The Rubicon Express RE1860-165 is a CVO drive shaft that is 16.5 inches long. It is compatible with 1310 yokes and is intended for the rear position, with a slip yoke eliminator required.
Lengths are measured center to center on the U-joint, with the slip stub at the center of its travel. Measure the vehicle on the ground in its running position before choosing the length.
Key features
- 16.5-inch length
- Compatible with 1310 yokes
- Rear position
- Slip yoke eliminator required
- Measured center to center on the U-joint
Driveline length and measurement
A driveshaft has to be the correct length to keep the U-joint angles within range through the full suspension cycle. Too long a shaft can bottom out the slip joint, while too short a shaft can pull apart when the axle drops. Taking the measurement at ride height on level ground gives a reliable baseline before any ordering or installation.
When the slip yoke is removed, the transfer case output sits in a different position, so the eliminator and the shaft work together as one system. Inspect the yoke seals and the eliminator bolts after installation. Check for vibration at highway speed, since a mismatched length or angle often shows up there first.
- Measure with the tires at their normal ride height
- Compare the yoke size before buying a shaft or eliminator
- Recheck driveline angles after changing lift or axle position
