Installing a rear block lift
A rear block lift raises the axle relative to the frame, which changes the angle and length of the driveshaft, shock absorbers and brake lines. Before installing, look at the leaf springs, U-bolt seats and axle housing for cracks, rust or bent perches. Replace any damaged hardware rather than reusing it, and make sure the blocks sit square on the springs before tightening.
Once the lift is in, recheck the U-bolt nuts after the first few drives, since new hardware often settles. Watch for vibration or driveline noise, which can point to an angle problem that the taper alone may not solve. Road test at low speed before returning to regular use.
