Setting up a leaf spring lift
A rear lift block sits between the axle and the leaf springs, so it raises the rear without changing the spring pack itself. That gap changes the angle of the pinion and driveshaft, which is why tapered blocks are used on this type of kit. The extra height also moves the shocks, brake lines and bump stops into new positions, so they should be checked after mounting.
Re-check the U-bolt nuts after the first several drives, because the clamp settles as the leaf springs seat. Inspect the spring pack for cracks or sagging before adding a block, since a worn pack will not hold a lift well. A full check of the driveline and brake hoses after installation helps catch problems early.
