Description

Overview

The Power Stop Z36-757 rear brake pads are Z36 Truck and Tow disc brake pads for 1999–2005 Ford F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty and Excursion.

Heavier trucks and SUVs need more bite than the original pads give, and this compound is built for that job. The Z36 friction level is 17 percent higher than OE pads.

Key features

  • Carbon and ceramic friction formula
  • Thermal scorched finish
  • Chamfered and slotted like the OE pads
  • Powdercoated backing plate
  • Noise insulating shims
  • Hi-temp lubricant included
  • Direct fit with the stock caliper, rear position

Rear brake maintenance

Rear brakes on a full-size Super Duty or an Excursion take less load than the front on most stops, but they carry a meaningful share when the truck is pulling a trailer. Uneven rear wear is often a sign of a sticking caliper or a worn slide pin rather than a pad problem. Inspect the caliper movement each time the rear pads are changed.

Replace rear pads in full sets, never as a single side, and check the parking brake adjustment afterward if the vehicle uses that mechanism on the rear axle. Lubricate the abutment clips and guide pins with the hi-temp lubricant supplied, and keep it off the pad friction surface. A pulsing pedal after a fresh install usually points to rotor runout or thickness rather than the new pads themselves.

Questions & Answers

Which vehicles does the Power Stop Z36-757 fit?

The Z36-757 rear pads fit 1999–2005 Ford F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty and Excursion. Make sure the year and model on your truck appear in this list.

Is the Z36-757 a front or rear brake pad?

Rear. The Z36-757 is a rear-position pad made to fit the stock caliper, and it is a direct-fit upgrade for the rear brakes of the trucks it covers.

Is the Z36-757 meant for heavy trucks and SUVs?

Yes. Power Stop made the Z36 range for vehicles with higher gross vehicle weights, and the Z36-757 belongs to that range. The Z36-757 suits hill driving and loaded or towing use.

Are rear pads and front pads interchangeable?

No. Rear and front pads are shaped for their own caliper position. The Z36-757 is a rear-position pad, so it should be fitted only to the rear axle, and front pads should be used at the front.
