Key features
- Lightweight awning
- Compact design for easy stowing
- Sized for the rear of mid-to-large CUVs and SUVs
- Shade and shelter from sun and rain
- Small/Mid Size version
Setting up at the tailgate
A tailgate awning is most useful when the vehicle is parked in an open spot where the canopy can be staked and set at a comfortable angle. Setting it up before unloading food and chairs keeps the area dry if a shower starts, and the shade makes a noticeable difference during midday meals. Choose a flat patch of ground so the frame sits evenly and the fabric does not sag.
Wind is the main risk with any lightweight awning. Secure every anchor point before leaving the canopy unattended, and take the awning down when gusts pick up. Dry the fabric completely before packing it so mildew does not form in the folds. Check the poles, joints and fasteners after each outing and tighten anything that has worked loose.
- Anchor all points before stepping away
- Take the awning down in strong wind
- Pack only when fully dry
