The G2 Dana 44 JK 35 Spline Placer Gold Rear Chromoly Axle Kit, part 196-2052-002, is a rear axle kit for the Jeep Wrangler JK. The JK Dana 44 rear kit is for 2007 to 2018 models.
The Placer Gold Series is forged from 4340 chromoly with extra material in the critical areas. The kit is made in the U.S.A. and is meant for use with a 35 spline aftermarket locker.

Locker and spline matching
A spline count mismatch is one of the most common problems when fitting a rear axle kit. The spline on the axle shaft has to engage the internal spline of the locker, so the count on the kit and the count on the locker must be the same. Verify the locker before the kit goes in, rather than assuming a match from the vehicle year alone.
Wheel bearings and studs are often replaced at the same time as the axle, since the work already involves removing the hub and bearing area. Inspect the bearing seat and the flange surface for scoring before pressing in new bearings. Clean threads and use fresh studs where the old ones show stretching or rust.
