Description

Overview

The G2 Dana 44 JK 30 spline rear chromoly axle kit, part 96-2052-1-30, is a rear axle shaft kit with wheel bearings, seals and screw-in wheel studs. It fits 2007–2014 Jeep Wrangler JK non-Rubicon models.

The shafts are forged from high tensile alloy steel and heat treated for strength. They are 30 spline shafts, made to run with a 30 spline differential. The kit is dual drilled for the 5 x 5 and 5 x 5.5 bolt patterns.

Key features

  • Forged high tensile alloy steel shafts, heat treated
  • 30 spline shafts for a 30 spline differential
  • Dual drilled for 5 x 5 and 5 x 5.5 bolt patterns
  • Includes wheel bearings, seals and screw-in wheel studs
  • Designed for the Wrangler JK rear axle

Matching the differential

Axle shafts only work when the splines line up with the differential, so the spline count is the first thing to compare. A 30 spline shaft needs a 30 spline carrier, and a mismatch means the shaft will not seat. Check the differential you already have before ordering, and confirm the bearing style and axle housing match the new kit. Wheel bearings and seals should be fitted with the correct tools and torque.

Screw-in wheel studs are installed by pressing them through the hub and seating them against the flange. Check the bolt pattern before mounting wheels, since the dual drilling covers two patterns and wheels must still match the hub. Use new seals and clean the housing surfaces before reassembly to prevent leaks.

  • Check spline count against the differential
  • Use new seals during reassembly
  • Confirm wheel fit before driving

Questions & Answers

Will this kit fit a 2010 Jeep Wrangler JK?

Yes, if your vehicle is a 2007–2014 Wrangler JK non-Rubicon. Confirm the year and model before you order, and check that your rear axle is the Dana 44 JK.

Does this kit include a differential?

No. The kit does not include a differential, so keep your existing 30 spline differential and make sure it matches these 30 spline shafts.

Which bolt pattern does it use?

The kit is dual drilled for 5 x 5 and 5 x 5.5 bolt patterns. It includes screw-in wheel studs, wheel bearings and seals.

Should the axle seals be replaced during a shaft swap?

Often yes. Replacing seals while the axle is open prevents leaks from old seals that have hardened over time. Inspect the housing for oil residue and check the carrier bearings for play before reassembly.
