Description

Overview

The Baer Brakes Claw Performance Rotors, part number 55133-220, are a pair of rear slot-only, zinc-plated brake rotors for 2007–2020 Chevrolet and GMC 1500 trucks, Cadillac Escalade models and other GM applications. They are direct replacement rotors for the rear axle.

The slot-only friction surface lets gases and dust escape from between the pad and rotor, which Baer says supports a more consistent pedal and reduced brake fade. The zinc-plated finish gives open-center wheels a bright appearance, and the rotors are sold as a set.

Key features

  • Slotted friction surface lets gases and dust escape between pad and rotor
  • Enhanced vane structure and premium materials for cooling and durability
  • Premium, mill balanced, direct replacement rotor
  • Zinc-plated finish for a bright appearance in open-center wheels
  • Slot and zinc finish complements the Baer 6T Truck and OffRoad front brake kits
  • Floating, drum-in-hat rear design with a rust resistant coating

Before you buy

Rear brake rotors wear at a different rate than fronts, and on a truck the rear axle often carries less braking load, so the rear set may need attention on a different schedule than the pads up front. Check rear rotors for scoring, a raised lip at the outer edge, blue discoloration or pulsation through the pedal. Any of these signs means the rotor should be measured against its minimum thickness before the pads go back on.

Drum-in-hat rear rotors sit around the parking brake hardware on many setups, so inspect the hat section and the nearby parts during service. Rotors are usually replaced in pairs so both sides brake evenly. While the hub is off, check the wheel bearing and the ABS wiring, since a worn bearing or damaged tone ring is easier to correct at the same time.

  • Rotor thickness measured against the minimum stamped on the casting
  • Pads of matching friction material to the rotor
  • Rear axle position matched before ordering
  • Lug nut torque checked after the first drive

Questions & Answers

Will the Baer 55133-220 fit a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Yes. Baer lists these rear rotors for 2007–2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 models, so a 2007 Silverado 1500 falls inside that range. Confirm your vehicle's year, model and trim before ordering.

Are these front or rear rotors?

They are rear rotors and fit the rear axle. They are not front rotors, so match the axle position on your vehicle before choosing this set.

What does the slot-only surface do?

The slots let gases and dust escape from between the brake pad and rotor during braking, which supports a more consistent pedal and reduced brake fade. The zinc-plated finish adds a bright look in open-center wheels.

Are brake pads included with the rotors?

No. The set is a pair of direct replacement rotors, and brake pads are not part of the package. The ABS tone ring is also not included.

How can I tell when rear rotors need replacing?

Look for deep grooves, a raised lip at the outer edge, pulsation in the pedal or noise when braking. Measure the rotor thickness against the discard figure before reuse, and replace rotors that are at or below it.

Are slotted rotors suitable for daily street driving?

Yes. Slots help clear gases and dust from the pad surface, which suits regular street use. Expect some added pad dust and check pad wear more often than you would with a plain rotor.
