Overview
The Tuff Country sway bar end link kit, part number 10855, uses heim joints to reduce suspension binding. Its threaded body covers stock height vehicles up to 3 inches of lift, and it fits Tuff Country lift kits from 2 to 6 inches.
Key features
- Heim joints reduce suspension binding
- Improves articulation through its heim joints.
- Threaded body for fitment across lift heights
- Fits Tuff Country lift kits from 2 to 6 inches
Heim joints and articulation
Heim joints are ball-type bearings that pivot in several directions, which lets the sway bar link move without binding as the suspension cycles. Binding can make a suspension feel stiff or cause parts to wear faster, so freer movement at the ends helps the axle move through its travel. A threaded body also lets the link length be adjusted during installation.
Heim joints need protection from dirt and water to keep working properly. Inspect the joints for play, cracking of the housing, and stiff movement after trail use. Grease fittings, where present, should be serviced on a regular schedule, and worn joints should be replaced rather than tightened.
- Check joint play by hand with the vehicle supported
- Look for cracks in the joint housing or threads
- Clean dirt from the threads before adjusting length
