Overview
The Trail Gear 110034-1-KIT is a rear leaf spring lift kit for 1979–1988 Toyota pickups and 1984–1988 Toyota 4Runner models in the DLX and SR5 trims. It raises the rear of the truck 3 to 4.99 inches with 56-inch long travel leaf springs, and it adds 12-inch Bilstein shocks for more suspension travel on rough trails. Rear suspension on rough trails
Leaf springs with longer travel let the rear axle articulate over uneven ground, which helps tires stay in contact on ruts and washouts. The shocks control how quickly that movement settles, so a shock with more travel can keep the rear end from bouncing on washboard roads. Because the rear is the part of the truck that carries the load, the springs and mounts take most of the strain on a trail.
Greasable shackles and spring bolts make routine service simpler, but they need regular attention to keep the joints moving freely. Dust and water work into the bushings, so greasing after water crossings or dusty days helps. Check the spring hangers and shackle mounts for cracks around the welds, and look for uneven sag between the left and right springs.

The kit does not cover the front of the truck or later Toyota generations outside the years above. Confirm your vehicle’s year, model and trim before ordering.
Installation notes
The rear spring hangers come pre-welded and the kit ships with instructions, so no custom fabrication is needed for the spring mounts. Because the new springs change rear axle position and driveline angle, have the driveline angles checked after installation.
