Overview
The Smittybilt XRC Gen2 front bumper and rock slider package, part number XRCJK1.1, is a steel package for the 2007-2016 Jeep Wrangler JK 2-door. It includes a front and rear tire carrier bumper with rocker guards, made from 3/16 inch solid plate in a matte black powdercoat.
The XRC Gen 2 Max Front Stubby Bumper has a high degree approach angle and raised corners to maximize ground clearance, and is robotically welded from 3/16 cold rolled steel. The front stinger is 1.75 inch tubing with light tabs for up to two 9 inch lights, and the bumper is winch ready for winches up to a 10,000 lb rating with fog light cutouts. The package’s rear bumper also has raised corners and a recovery point, and the tire carrier bolts directly to the Gen2 bumpers.

Trail use and upkeep
A front stubby bumper with raised corners and a high approach angle helps when the trail gets steep or rocky, because the lower nose sits farther off the ground than a standard bumper. Rocker guards along the sides take the hits that would otherwise land on the rocker panels when you slide over obstacles. Solid plate construction spreads impact across the frame mounts, which is why bolt condition matters after rough use.
Winch-ready bumpers are often paired with a separate winch, so check that the winch’s mounting plate, cable and fairlead suit the bumper before recovery work. Inspect the powder coat for chips around the bolt holes, retighten hardware after the first few trail runs, and look for cracks near welds. Keep the fog light cutouts and light tabs free of mud so wiring stays protected.
