Overview
The Rugged Ridge 16592.21 is a heavy-duty rear drive shaft for 2-door Jeep Wrangler JK models, covering the 2007–2018 Wrangler JK in the 70th Anniversary, 75th Anniversary, Rubicon, Sahara, Sport, Sport S and X trims.
The shaft uses a double-cardan joint in place of a single U-joint. That joint helps smooth the driveline angle and reduce vibration on lifted setups, and it is suited to stock to 6 inch lift.

Driveline angles and lift
Driveline angle changes with lift height and axle position, and that angle is what drives vibration and joint wear. A rear drive shaft works best when the joint angles stay within the range the joint was built for. The slip yoke eliminator takes the place of the slip yoke on the transfer case, so the shaft cannot pull in and out as the suspension travels. Check that the eliminator is installed before the first drive.
Regular checks help catch wear early. Look for grease leaking from a joint, play in the yoke, and clunks when shifting or accelerating. Re-check the bolts after the first few trail runs, and keep the joints greased at the intervals the vehicle requires.
